He is presumed to be buried on a hillside on the Pierson Farm facing James Knob, in Braxton County, West Virginia, where there is a stone that is shared with his wife Elizabeth Ann (Given) Pierson. These presumed graves are in a wooded area not easily accessible to a road.
He was born in Monroe County, West Virginia (then part of Greenbrier County, Virginia), served in the War of 1812, and settled in Braxton County in 1826.
He was the third of 14 children of Joseph Pierson his second wife Charlotte McKee. Joseph Pierson was born September 20, 1746 in Philadelphia, PA and died 1827 in West Virginia, probably in what is now Nicholas or Braxton County. Joseph and Charlotte Pierson are probably buried in Braxton or Nicholas County, West Virginia and may be buried at this location.
Jonathan and his wife Elizabeth had ten children:
1. William Given Pierson. Born October 12 or 20 1817 in Kanawha County, West Virginia (may now be Braxton County), died September 20, 1864 in Lewis County, West Virginia, may be buried in Lewis County or with his wife in Braxton County. On August 25, 1836 in Braxton County he married Julia or Juliann Friend. She was born about 1816 in Kanawha County (may now be Braxton County), died April 28, 1858 in Braxton County, and is buried at Skidmore Cemetery, Sutton, Braxton County, West Virginia, memorial #29273334.
