Philip John Gatti was the third child of Elvira "Effie" Grippo and Domenick Gatti. Philip attended Technical High School in Scranton, PA before the family moved to Bristol, CT in 1940 where he graduated from Bristol High School. After graduation he worked as a timekeeper at New Departure in Bristol. He enlisted in the United States Navy on June 22, 1943 and served in the SeaBees. He trained at Quonset Point, Rhode Island and served in Hawaii, Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Guam during WWII. He was released from the Navy on March 18, 1946. Upon his return to Bristol he met Frances Levesque who had taken his place at New Departure. They married on December 26, 1946. Philip became an apprentice tool and die maker for O.S.A. Mfg. in Plainville, CT. He then worked for Federal Machine & Tool Co. in Bristol. In 1968 Philip started his own machine shop business. Philip was an avid gardener, and a devoted husband and father.
