MAJOR DENNIS B. BEDARD (retired)

Dennis B. Bedard passed away in his sleep on December 4, 2012, at home in South Burling- ton, Vermont. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on December 29, 1941, he was the eldest son of the late Avila and Alice (Roy) Bedard. After graduating in 1959 from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, Dennis enlisted the U.S. Air Force; and four years later, on completion of his hitch with the Air Force, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Dennis served two tours of duty as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star, the Distin- guished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and sev- eral other honors. He earned a B.S. degree from Cameron University and an M.B.A. from the University of Hartford, and retired from the Army as a Major while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Following his retirement, he was employed for many years at Sikorsky Aircraft, General Electric, and General Dynamics.

In his personal life, Dennis was an avid Formu- la One race car driver, a motorcyclist, a down- hill skier, and a fisherman over the years. He loved to travel and some of his favorite days were spent skiing at Jay Peak and fly fishing with his daughters at Yellowstone National Park.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his two daughters, Taylor (Bedard) Wright (and her husband Andrew) and Hunter Bedard; two brothers, Paul Bedard and David Bedard; several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline (Bedard) Morton. Interment services, held at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors, were private.
