Mrs. Mary J. Bates, wife of Fred H. Bates, died suddenly at her home, No. 636 Roberts Ave., Syracuse, Wednesday afternoon of last week. Surviving besides her husband are a daughter Miss Alice C. Bates; three sisters Mrs. Harriet Pickard of Syracuse, Mrs. Wesley McRorie of Springfield Center, and Mrs. Frank Barbour of Rye and three brothers, William Stickles of Springfield Center, John Stickles of Chittenango and Harvey Stickles of Cedarville.
Funeral services took place at her home at 10 o'clock Saturday morning with the Rev. Dr. C. M. Thompson, Jr., pastor of Delaware St. Baptist Church officiated. The body was brought to Cooperstown for internment in Lakewood Cemetery.
