WILLIAM LEE DYDA, SR. passed from this life Thursday morning, December 6, 2012, at his home in Santa Fe.

Born May 4, 1931 in Alta Loma, Mr. Dyda had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, before becoming a carpenter for the next 45 years. William was a member of the Carpenters Local #527 in Galveston, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising his cows, working and riding his tractor, but most of all teasing and trying to start an argument.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Johnnie Mae (Lane) Dyda; brother-in-law, Charlie Griffith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia Dyda; son, Billy Dyda, Jr. and wife, Sherlyn of Santa Fe; daughters, Laura Dyda of Santa Fe, Cindy Dyda Manuel and husband, Ken of Alvin; brother, James E. Dyda and wife, Patti; sister, Dorothy Griffith both of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Kristen, Michelle and David Manuel, Rebecca and William Dyda, III.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Chaplain Evelyn Lupardus officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Rebecca Dyda, William Dyda, III, David Manuel, Ken Manuel, Kristen Manuel and Michelle Manuel.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.

Memorials in the form of donations may be made to the Hospice Care Team, 1708 North Amburn Road, Suite C, Texas City, Texas 77591.
