1814 - John married Sarah Terrell in Wayne County, Mississippi.
1817 - John served as 3rd Sergeant in the militia against the Creek Indians under Major Gen. Andrew Jackson.
1820 Census - Residence, Covington County, Mississippi
1827-1828 - State Representative for Jones County, Mississippi
1836-1837 - State Representative for Jasper County, Mississippi
1840-1844 - Mississippi State Senator; representing Jasper, Smith, Newton & Scott Counties. John was a Democrat in his political views and advocated states' rights.
1850 - Residence, Jasper County, Mississippi
1860 - Residence, Bradley County, Arkansas
