A visitation for Mary Louise Scull Morton, 94, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home. There will also be visitation Friday, December 7, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton, Texas. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas.

Mrs. Morton was born May 29, 1918 near Odem in San Patricio County, Texas to the late William Flournoy and Blanche (Routt) Scull, and passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in Lufkin.

Mrs. Morton was devoted to her family, and she loved her friends. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and dominos player. Her positive outlook and sunny disposition were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a wonderful wife, mom, and "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Morton enjoyed meeting the public, and she held a number of retail jobs over the years, beginning in Odem when she worked for her family's grocery business starting before she was a teenager. She worked for Foley's Department Store in Houston for 13 years beginning in the 1960s. In the late 1970s, she moved to Lufkin, where she worked for many years for her daughter Joann Roquemore at Wishing Well Antiques & Gifts.

She is survived by her daughters, Randa Watson, Joann and husband Abb Roquemore, and Marikay and husband Ken Bean; daughter-in-law, Pam Morton; grandchildren and spouses, T.C. "Cal" Morton III, Melody Morton and Scott Buckleair, Romy Roquemore and Carl Ray Polk, Abb "Rocky" Roquemore IV, Michael Averitte, Amanda Averitte and Todd Tracy, Lincoln Watson, Reverend Dawson and Shanna Bean, and Tom Bean; great-grandchildren, Reese Morton, Luke Morton, Sarah Morton, Will Buckleair, Elliott Buckleair, David Buckleair, Andrew Culton Polk, Preston Roquemore Polk, Mary Grace Polk, Jordyn Averitte, Alexandra Tracy, Grayson Tracy, Joshua Stephen Bean, Caleb Dru Bean, and Mary Elizabeth Bean; beloved sister-in-law, Mrs. Emmett (Patsy) Scull; and many extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thelton Calvert "Speedy" Morton, Sr.; son, T.C. Morton, Jr.; sisters, Alice Inez Scull and Adelaide Eads; brothers, Wayman D. Scull, William Robert "Bill" Scull, and Emmett Scull; and son-in-law, Mike Averitte.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Morton's grandsons and great-grandsons.

The family wishes to thank all the staffs at PineCrest Retirement Community and Memorial Health System for the loving care shown to Mary.

Mrs. Morton was a cancer survivor and the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or a charity of your choice.
