I've been tracing John Potter (b. 16 Oct 1755) in Coventry, RI for many years. He lived for a time in Pownal, VT, and then moved to Laurens, NY in old age, in order to "be with his children." All of this is described in his Revolutionary War Pension. He was living in Laurens in the 1840 Census, age 80-89 with a wife of the same age. The database of the Revolutionary War Soldiers indicates that a John Potter, who was a Revolutionary War Soldier was buried in the "Old Eldred Farm cemetery." Your description of this cemetery as being on the Eldred homestead sounds right to me, but the dates for the John Potter memorial aren't right. Do you have any idea if there might be a mistake in the dates, or where I might obtain further information?
Thanks for the help,
