John Samuel Gaussen, a Solicitor, of St. George's Parish, Dublin, son of James Gaussen, a Merchant, married Sarah Gaussen, of Clontarf Parish, Dublin, daughter of Charles Gaussen, a Solicitor, at Clontarf Parish Church, Dublin, on 28 August 1850.
The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. James Reid, and the witnesses were Charles Gaussen Jr. and Jno. Neilson.
John and Sarah were 1st cousins as their fathers were brothers.

John Samuel and Sarah had 4 known children: James (1853-1896)(married Mary Tittle); Elizabeth Dorothea (b 1852-54)(married James Price 1892); Matilda Sophia (1855-1913)( never married); and Charles (b 1851). It is not known who raised the children after their parents early deaths (but an Uncle William Hardy Gaussen was their guardian according to their mother's Probate), and it appears that Charles died before their Mother's will was probated.
