"Adam Leonard, a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home in Bedford Township, on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, after an illness of several weeks, at the age of 70 years, three months and 27 days.
He was a son of John and Barbara Leonard and was born in the county on July 29, 1838. On February 6, 1862 he was married to Miss Emma Claar. Mr. Leonard enlisted 107th Regiment Penna. Volunteers in September 1862 and served until June 1865. He was a brave soldier, an honest man and a good citizen.
Deceased is survived by his wife and eleven children: Jerome, James, Ambrose, John, Sylvester, Anthony, David, Mrs. Mary Straub, Mrs. Emma Deckerhoff, Lucy and Alice. Also the following brothers and sisters: John of Mt. Pleasant, Jacob of Fossilville, George of Fostoria, O., Henry of Oklahoma, Mrs. Elizabeth Ward of Saxton and Mrs. Catherine Lopas of Bridgeport.
The funeral was held at St. Thomas' Catholic Church, of which deceased was a member, Saturday morning, Rev. Father William Downes conducting the services. Interment in the cemetery west of town."
