CHEEKS, Joseph McKinley, 84, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away December 2, 2012, at Valley Hospice, Steubenville, OH.

He was born January 18, 1928, in Wellsburg, WV, to the late Joseph Henry and Chloe Mason Cheeks. He was an employee of the Wellsburg U.S. Postal Service for 34 years retiring in 1989 and a member of the Wellsburg Christian Church. He was also an Army veteran during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his son, James V. Cheeks, whom passed April 19, 1954, two grandchildren Marlo A. Cheeks and Jason T. Cheeks. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Maloney Cheeks, who he married December 1, 1951; four sons, Joseph Cheeks and his wife, Elizabeth, of Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas Cheeks, Randy Cheeks and his wife, Karen, Jeffrey Cheeks, all of Wellsburg, WV; two daughters, Kathy Taylor and her husband, Timothy, of Weirton, WV, Lisa Kolb and her husband, Robert, of Follansbee, WV; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles St., Wellsburg, WV. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Aaron Miller officiating. Interment will be at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV with full military grave side rites by the Ohio Valley Memorial Squad.
