Mr Felix A McCaffery of Cutchogue passed away at the Eastern Long Island Hospital on Saturday, January 21, after a long illness.
Mr McCaffery was born on Nassau Point September 1, 1878. He had been a resident of Cutchogue for 54 years and had been employed by C P Tuthill as a plumber for 44 years. He was a devote member of his church and held in high regard by his community. He was a life honorary member of Stirling Council, Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart church and an honorary life member of Mattituck Gun club.
A requiem mass was offered on Tuesday, January 24 at 9:30 at Sacred Heart R C Church, Cutchogue by the Very Rev John C Brennan, pastor. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cutchogue under the direction of Frank B Rogers, Cutchogue.
Recitation of the Rosary was held on Sunday evening at 8 pm at the Rogers Funeral Home, led by the Rev Father McGovern of St Agnes R c Church, Greenport, and members of the Knights of Columbus, and on Monday evening at 8 pm by Rev John C Brennan and member of the Sacred Heart Parish and friends.
Mr McCaffery is survived by his wife Mrs Rose McCaffery (In April 1951, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary); six sons, Francis, Eugene, Aquin, Cyril and Allen McCaffery of Cutchogue, and Kenneth McCaffery of Laurel; four daughters, Mrs Elizabeth Boyle of Sag Harbor, Miss Angeline McCaffery of Fort Meade, Maryland, Mrs Kathryn Cox of Mattituck and Mrs Helen Herzog of Greenport; three sisters, Mrs Margaret Lenahan of Cutchogue, Mrs Katherine Shalvey of Cutchogue and Mrs Julia Heaney of Greenport; one brother, Thomas McCaffery of Cutchogue; twenty-two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
