Discrepancy in marriage date and the 1670 will of Lawrence Walrond need to be resolved.

Mrs Mary Symes married Mr William Symes at Mangotsfield, Gloucestershire, 3 Aug 1674.

In his will dated October 27, 1670 Lawrence Walrond, gentleman, of Langridge, Somerset, made his "kinswoman" Mrs. Mary Symes the legatee of all his lands at Langridge and gave her the executorship of his estate. Also given smaller bequests were "kinsmen" Edward and Lawrence Walrond and cousin John Webb. Her husband William Symes, Gent., had the will proved on November 7, 1671, but Mary had to file the estate again on September 7, 1691.

Mary had her posthumous son Richard Symes baptized on February 26, 1687/8 at Holy Trinity Church, in Doynton, Gloucestershire.

In the will of her husband's aunt Elizabeth Bridges Langton dated February 12, 1696, Mary [described as "wife of my nephew William Symes"] was left a bequest of £5, her sons William, Thomas, and Richard £10 each, and her daughter Amy Symes £10, but in a codicil dated January 13, 1699 Amy was left additional furniture and silver plateware.

By the terms of his will dated July 17, 1723, Mary's brother-in-law Richard Symes settled his estate first on her son Richard [described in the will as "son of my late brother Wm Symes"], with remainder to Richard [described in the will as "son of my nephew Thos Symes"], with remainder to another Symes [described in the will as "eldest son of the sd Thomas"], and finally to William [described in the will as Thomas's brother "William Symes, Clerk, & to his Sons"]. In addition were the following bequests, Richard Symes the executorship, Capt. Thomas Symes £300, and William Symes £100. One of the difficulties of sorting through this family is that Mary and her husband William Symes had three sons with the same names as William's brother Charles' three sons.
