"She was born Velma Pauline Landers on May 15, 1924 in Hobart, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles Urbane Landers and Lucille Sikes Landers. She grew up in Oklahoma and Texas, graduating from Meadow High School in 1941. She married Cary Altus Roberts on December 7, 1942. Pauline and Cary moved to Coleman in 1957 and she worked side by side with her husband at their grocery store, Cary's Little Bear. She later worked as a door to door sales person for Durotest Light Company. Cary Roberts preceded her in death on December 5, 1962. She later married Roland Stanley on December 10, 1971. He preceded her in death in 1980. Pauline made many quilts and gave them to family members. She loved to crochet, knit, do embroidery and enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzle out of the newspaper.
"Survivors include her children, Doug Roberts and his wife, Connie, of Coleman, Paula Moten of Fort Worth, Jack Roberts and his wife, Isabel, of Coleman; two sisters, Sybil Berry of Coleman, Nan Miller of Royce City; one brother, Jack Landers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
"She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Berry.
"Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Stevens Funeral Home.
"Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association."
