Lillie Maude Fox, more commonly called "Maude" was one of nine children born to Edwin and Viana Fox of Ellington, Reynolds County, Missouri. Her siblings were: Roy, Arthur, Clara, Myrtle, Harriett, Cecil, Elmer and Della.

Maude married William Epherm Barnes in Reynolds County, Missouri. Sometime after marriage, they moved to Carroll County, Missouri looking for work. Two of Maude's sisters, Myrtle and husband Thomas Willis, and Clara, along with her husband, Luther Gilmer moved to Carroll County as well.

Sometime after Maude's husband "Eph" died, she married Abner C. Tunison, then after his death, married Rev. Walter Fuqua, born March 3, 1886 and died in October 1979 at the age of 93.
