▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Avery W. Kingsley was born Feb. 14, 1842, at Cadiz, and lived in this town on a farm until 1860, when he moved with his parents to Machias, where for two years he clerked in the store for John Weir. He then entered into partnership with the late Daniel S. Tilden in a general store which they conducted three years.

In 1872 Mr. Kingsley moved back to Franklinville, and became a partner with the late James Waring in the store now occupied by the Graves Company, West Park Square. Mr. Waring later sold his interest to James Fraser, with whom Mr. Kingsley continued in partnership for two years.

About 1880 Mr. Kingsley began working in the First National Bank as bookkeeper, where he continued for twenty years. He became director and vice-president of that institution. He resigned four years ago on account of deafness, and has since led a retired life, looking after his considerable financial interests.

Mr. Kingsley has been treasurer of the Franklinville Canning Company since it was organized in February 1882. He has held the offices of Town Clerk, Assessor, and Collector. In 1868 he married Fidelia R. Phillips of Machias, and they have three children, Mrs. Mark L. Palmerlee, of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Herman G. Cheney of Nowata. Okla., and Earl G. Kingsley of this village.
