Cecelia Bibby, age 84, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away November 14, 2012. Cece was born February 20, 1928 to Frank Bibby and Mary Collum Bibby in Los Angeles, California. Cece was a U.S. Navy Veteran (ENSN, US Navy, Korea), a NASA Mercury 7 Artist, creator of the NASA spaceship insignias: Friendship 7 (John Glenn), Aurora 7 (Scott Carpenter), and Sigma 7 (Wally Schirra).

Cece is the only American artist whose work has orbited the Earth on three different space missions. Her first Mercury painting, that of Friendship 7 on the side of John Glenn's spacecraft, was launched into space on her 34th birthday.
