OBITUARY-LAST RITES FOR JACOB BATTENHOUSE HELD ON TUESDAY- Jacob Battenhouse, aged 77, whose residence had been 646 Crosse Avenue, passed away suddenly at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Shield's rest home where he had been a patient for a year.
Born in Russia Township, he had spent forty years as a farmer in that vicinity. He came to Amherst in 1941 and formerly employed by Amherst Township.
His wife, Mary, preceded him in death in 1940.
He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church and of Hickory Tree Grange.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Thelma) Hahn of Grafton, two sons, Raymond and George, both of Amherst, three grandchildren, and two brothers, Philip of Oberlin and William of Benson, California.
