Meets Sudden Death
Walter Barndollar, thirty-four, president of the Switchmen's union of Elkhart, and a prominent member of the Masonic order, was instantly killed in the Oakland avenue yards in that city Saturday morning, when he stepped from the running board of a yard engine in front of a road engine returning to the roundhouse. His skull was crushed and both legs fractured and crushed. Mrs. Barndollar was prostrated and unable to see anyone but immediate relatives for several days. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. Barndollar is a sister of Mrs. C.W. Elliott and Mrs. Chas. Hoover of Middlebury. Her husband was a frequent visitor here, spending his vacation at different times at nearby lakes.
