REMSEN. From the Bell-Enterprise. Catherine Anne Heesch died at her home south of Remsen on Friday, February 5th. Deceased was born in Schleswig, Germany, on the 2nd day of November, 1876, and came to this country with her husband and three children, the youngest now one year but three months ago. She was afflicted with heart trouble when they arrived. The deceased was a sister of Mr. [Mrs.] Thomas Dierkson, and the departed woman as well as the bereaved family received at the Dierkson home the kindest aid and attention. The remains of the departed wife and mother were laid to rest in the Remsen cemetery on Sunday, February 7. Rev. Mrs. J. Heesch who has been making her home with her brother [brother-in-law], Thos. Derrickson, died on Friday morning after several weeks illness of heart trouble. She leaves a husband and three children. The family came over from Germany last fall. The funeral was held in the Lutheran church in Remsen Sunday. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Feb 16, 1909, page 4, column 5.

At the home of her brother [brother-in-law] Thos. Dierkson living about eight miles south east of here on Friday occurred the death of Mrs. Johannes Heesch after a long illness of heart trouble.
Kathrina Maria Hansen was born in Bredstedt, Schleswig Holstein, November 2, 1876. She was married to Johannes Heesch in 1899 to which union three children were born. The children and her husband survive to mourn her death. In October last they came to Remsen from Germany to try life anew in this country but as she was failing in health they stayed with her brother [brother-in-law]and family. She has four sisters and two brothers in this vicinity and an aged mother who is making her home at the Dierkson home. The funeral services were held from St. Paul's Lutheran church last Sunday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. Dallmann. – Remsen New, Thursday, February 11, 1909, page 4, column 3.

1. Kathrina's sister was Margaret Anna (Hansen) Diercksen, married to Thomas Diercksen. Margaret cared for the aged mother is also buried in the Remsen City Cemetery.
2. Kathrina's mother, Ingeborg Hansen, was born in Germany and married to Christ Hansen. Christ died in Germany.
