Cecil Monroe Williams, 86, of Liberty passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011
at Clapp's Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden.

He was a faithful and loving husband and father, WWII Army Veteran, a member of The American Legion Post 81, a member of the First United Methodist Church, Past Master of Liberty Masonic Lodge 714 and Past Patron of Liberty Chapter 66 of The Order of the Eastern Star.

Cecil retired from the Liberty Police Department after 33 years serving the last 10 years as Chief of Police.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church
with Rev. Eugene Dean and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating; burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Randolph County, he was the son of the late George Wesley and Fleta Edwards Williams and was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Euliss Williams; step-daughter, Annette Bowman Kennedy; brothers, James Weldon Williams and Franklin Dwight Williams.

Surviving is his daughter, Anita Williams Williamson of Greensboro; sister, Mary Frances Williams Thacker of Graham; step-grandchildren, Charles "Chuck" Fruitt of Climax, Debbie McNeill of Asheboro and Terri Fruitt of Myrtle Beach, SC; Five step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild and numberous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Greensboro Retirement Center and Clapp's Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden.
