Amanda was the daughter of Jonas and Elizabeth (Schuler) Eisenhouer. She was born in Conewogo Township, north of York. She was baptized at nearby Quickel Evangelical Lutheran Church in nearby Zions View in 1879. She was a 4th cousin to President Eisenhower's father.

Amanda married George Frey on February 2, 1896 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Dover. Her only child, Arthur Clayton Frey, was born 3 1/2 months later. The marriage did not last and she went back to her maiden name. They were divorced on May 11, 1903.

On March 9, 1909, Amanda married George Nease at the Trinity United Church of Christ church in York. She lived at 225 E King Street for the last 30 years of her life.
