William Alsup was shot six times at his home in Benton County on Sunday last by William Lowrey, There was no definite excuse for the shooting as far as known by the neighbors.

William Lowrey went to trial for the murder of William Alsup.
William Alsup was murdered by a man named William Lowrey, Records show that William Lowrey was acquitted of the murder 4 years later. No reason given for the killing.

Elijah was a son of Hugh Alsup & Nancy Brewer. He was the husband of Catherine Susan Buchanan, (the daughter of Daniel G. Buchanan and Drucilla Alsup), and father of five children, John Henry Alsup, Daniel Thomas Alsup, William Joseph Alsup, Mary Jane Alsup Brewer, and Colonel Henderson Alsup.
