Mrs. Hanora Kelly Carroll, widow of Dennis Carroll, who died in the ‘80s and one of the pioneers of Omaha, passed away yesterday at her home, 1824 Grace street, at the age of 82 years.
Mrs. Carroll had broken her leg from a fall in the kitchen on June 16 and this trouble with her advanced age brought her peaceful end. Four children survive her, Patrick, Dennis and Anna Carroll and Mrs. T. R. Mullen.
Mrs. Carroll was born in the county of Kerry, Ireland, and came to this country when a girl 18 years of age, residing first at Washington, D.C. There Miss Kelly met Dennis Carroll and they were shortly married, coming to Omaha to live in 1857. Mr. Kelly died twelve years later leaving a widow and four children.
When the Carrolls came here, the city of Omaha numbered a few hundred and they are well known among the old families of Omaha and Nebraska. For twenty years they resided at Sherman avenue and Nicholas street.
