Gertrude ‘Marie’ Cummings of Downingtown

Gertrude “Marie” Cummings, 82, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Chester County Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Eugene D. Cummings, with whom she had shared 50 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2010.

Born in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Nadolny Siewierski.

She was employed as a cashier at the Downingtown Rite Aid for 24 years, retiring in 2012, and attended Romansville United Methodist Church. Marie was an avid bowler and bowled on a league at the Bowling Palace in Downingtown.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee M. Clark of Wilmington, N.C.; and by her sisters, Irene Jahnke of Maryland and Lorraine Popejoy of California.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
