Funeral services for Harold Gottleaber Jr., 55, were held Nov. 25 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Monticello, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Robert Hannemann officiated at the services.
Harold Gottleaber Jr. of Monticello died November 23 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness.
Harold Gottleaber Jr. was born November 2, 1934 at Dubuque, IA, the son of Harold and Bernice Penshorn Gottleaber. He received his education in the Monticello Schools where he graduated in 1952.
He was married to Darlene Chapman September 10, 1952 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Monticello. He worked for Rite Way Feed Service, and later became the owner.
Harold was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and was a charter member of Monticello Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife; four children, Kenneth Gottleaber of Irving, TX, Laurie Ashby of Maquoketa, Steven Gottleaber of Bloomington, IL. and Valerie Gottleaber of Iowa City; and three grandchildren.
He is also survived by his father, Harold Gottleaber, Sr., Monticello, and a sister, Janis Meier of DeWitt. He was preceded in death by his mother, and a son, Dr. Vern Gottleaber.
Honorary bearers were Gary Kula, Irvin Bohlken, M.J. Stadtmueller, Duane Tholen, Gilbert Heam and Jeffrey Bader. Casketbearers were Gerald Schneiter, Virgil Behrends, Robert Lubben, James Green, Allen Forest, William Gearhart.
Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the arrangements.
