Daughter of William Alexander BRIGGS and Mary Ann GLANT. Stepdaughter of Laura Jane TEMPLETON. Sister of Harry, Edward Elliot and Buoth Boyd.

BRIGGS - Miss Gertrude Ann, R.N., 90, Seward, died morning of July 21, 1963, at the home of nephew, Dale Briggs, Seward. Born Sept. 15, 1872, in Orbisonia, Pa., daughter of William and Mary (Glant) Briggs. Preceded in death by parents and 3 brothers. Survived by 5 nieces and 2 nephews -- Mrs. Charlotte Wisniske, Du Bois; Mrs. Gert Link, Vera Doyle, Betty Rolling and Dale Briggs, all of Seward; William Briggs, Detroit, Mich., and Grace Ferry, Denver, Colo. Brother, Edward, died July 13, 1963. Member of first class of Harrisburg Nursing School, 1898. Member of Order of Eastern Star, and Orbisonia Methodist Church. Friends are being received at Harry C. Clarke Funeral Home, Seward, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Henry Morris. Remains will be removed Tuesday to Ray Ott Funeral Home, Orbisiona, and will lie in state from 1 to 3 p.m. Interment, Orbisonia Cemetery. (Huntingdon and Mr. Union papers please copy.)

Miss Gertrude Briggs, a former resident of Tyrone, died on Sunday morning, July 21, 1963, at the home of a nephew, Dale Briggs, in Seward, Pa. She was born in Orbisonia on September 15, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Briggs. The deceased was a member of the first graduating class at the Harrisburg General Hospital. For most of her life she had been employed as an industrial nurse but had also served as superintendent of nurses in several hospitals. Her survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, among them being Roy Bard and Mrs. Dessie Faust, both of Mount Union; Herman Bard of Newton Hamilton and Mrs. Edna Brandt of Mount Union, R.D. Funeral services were conducted this Monday afternoon in Seward. There will be a viewing at the Ott funeral home in Orbisonia on Tuesday afternoon, July 23, from 1 to 3 o'clock. Interment will follow in the Orbisonia Cemetery.
