Angela Kaye (Payne) McIntosh
Angela McIntosh, recently of Abilene, died in a Scottsdale, Arizona, hospital on June 15, 2000. She was 34 years of age.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2000, at First United Methodist Church in Abilene, where her parents, Gordon and Patricia Payne attend.
Angela was born January 22, 1966. She spent her childhood in Texas and Arizona. She graduated from John Tyler High School in 1984 where she was a member of the drill team.
She met Winston Scott McIntosh while attending high school. They were married in 1986 at Second Baptist Church in Abilene.
Angela was the mother of three children: Ciera Marie, 12; Tyler Nicole, 6; and Preston Scott, 5.
During her busy times as a wife and mother she completed a B.A. degree in child development from the University of Central Oklahoma.
She also spent many long hours in volunteer work for CASA (Court Appointed Surrogate Advocate — a child advocacy program) in Oklahoma City.
In 1996, when she was diagnosed with Angio Sarcoma, a rare type of soft tissue cancer, she continued her education and when weakness from chemotherapy forced her to stop she was only one class short of a Master's degree.
She faced her illness with an uncommon courage. She declared to her family that although she did not know the reason Jesus had allowed her to have cancer, she was willing to learn what Jesus had to teach her and what His will was for her life.
Angela is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rev. A.C. Roberts and her paternal grandfather, Gordon C. Payne, Sr., as well as her paternal grandmother, Mary E. Payne.
Angela is survived by her husband, Winston Scott McIntosh and their three children of Phoenix.
Other survivors include her maternal grandmother, Edith Edna Roberts of Abilene, her parents and one brother, John David, his wife Jennifer and their children, Ashley and Michael of Ft. Worth.
She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Angela will be greatly missed by the entire McIntosh family who treated her as one of their own.
Note: Edith Edna Roberts passed away in 2013. Find A Grave Memorial# 112415506. Angela had a very close and special relationship with her grandmother Edna.
Angela's cremains were given to her Mother, Patricia Payne. There is a marker in the cemetery for Angela where she will be interred when her Mother is ready.
