Clarence Edward Barker, 64, Bates City, died March 20, 1999, in Odessa. Mr. Barker was born March 2, 1935, in Odessa, and had lived in Independence and the Kansas City area before moving to Bates City this year. He was a boilermaker welder. He was a 1954 graduate of William Chrisman High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, having served in both branches during and after World War II. He was a member of the International brotherhood of Boilermakers and Pipe Fitters Local 83, Kansas City. He was a member of the Ararat Shrine and Scottish Rite, Kansas City, and had played in the Oriental Band. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 76, Independence. He was a member of the South Avenue RLDS Church, Independence. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Scott Barker. His survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Julie Barker, Lake Lotawana; three grandchildren; two sisters, Henrietta Darst, Grain Valley, Elizabeth Duncanson, Grain Valley; a half brother, France Barker, Independence; and a half sister, Clara B. Skaggs, North Kansas City. Services will be Tuesday at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel, Odessa. Graveside services with inurnment will be Wednesday at the Barker Cemetery, Odessa. (EXAMINER, 22/Mar/1999)
