Dovie was the daughter of Grace Crutchfield Skinner and Willaim M. Arehart. Sister of Willis L. Arehart, Harold E. Arehart, Dorothy (Arehart) Sisson and Gladys F. (Arehart) Nelson.

Dovie married first husband George Edward Bland June 2, 1927 in Newton County, Missouri and they had three children. George passed away in 1948. She married second husband Earl Eugene Pauth in Oregon.
