Harold Edward Baldwin, 72, Holton, died August 18, 2004 at a Topeka hospital. He was born April 22, 1932, in Knoxville, Tenn., the son of William Lawrence and Vettress Henry Baldwin.

He graduated from Bearden High School in Knoxville. Mr. Baldwin lived in California before moving to Holton in 1975. He worked for L.A. County Flood Control and for Terminal Refrigeration. He also worked for Thrifty Drug Store in El Monte, Calif., and for B & E Liquior in Baldwin Park, Calif. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was memaber of the Blinded Veteran's Administration and a past member of VFW Post 1367 in Holton. He married Norma Ellen Jenkins on Feb. 18, 1955, in Baldwin Park, Calif. and she survives. Other survivors include a son, Harold E. Baldwin, Jr., Holton; two daughters, Laniesa Dawn Garcia, Sparks, Nev., and Anna Marie Baldwin, Wetmore; two sisters, Gloria McClain and Deanna Russell, both of Knoxville, TN; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchilren. A sister, Helen Baldwin, and a brother, Gilbert Baldwin, preceded him in death.

Graveside services were held August 20 in Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harold Baldwin Memorial Fund, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, 1101 W. Fourth Street, Holton, Kansas 66436.
