Spike was my best friend. I had just lost a dog a few months after I got him. He was a rat terrier and was always into everything. I live alone and had to go to work every day. It broke my heart to put him in a cage all day long so I started letting him roam about the house. One cold day I got home late from work and found little Spike hanging from the curtains. He had somehow gotten his collar tangled in them. I had the feeling he was looking for me. I bundled up his little body and took him to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in the pet cemetery. Spike was not quite a year old.
