United States Army Corporal Paul H. Bassler, was killed in action while serving in France. He was called to service December 24, 1917 and sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa. Paul served in Company L, 117th infantry, A.E.F. and entered combat service in July 1918.

Paul, the youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Bassler, was born on a farm near Sugar Creek, northeast of Trenton. Besides his parents, Paul is survived by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
