Lisa Ann Frost, a Rancho Santa Margarita woman, died in the Sept. 11 attacks.
Southern California Edison dedicated a new electrical line today to a Rancho Santa Margarita woman who died in the Sept. 11 attacks. Edison workers energized about 4 miles of copper wiring named after Lisa Anne Frost, whose plane crashed into the World Trade Center almost seven years ago. "This is probably the pinnacle of honor," said Thomas Frost, the father of Lisa Anne and a substation operator with Edison. More than 50 people gathered to see the ceremony in the Edison Orange County Switching Center on the corner of Grand and McFadden avenues in Santa Ana. Mr. Frost said that, in about two weeks, passersby will be able to see the plaque commemorating his daughter on the east side of the La Veta Substation. The line will provide energy to about 1,500 customers, and this was the first time that an electrical line has been named after a non-Edison employee. "We needed to do this." Frost said. "Every time we do something like this, we tell the people who did this (to Lisa) 'You didn't win.'"
Dan Richman, an Irvine resident waiting for the bus outside the Edison building, didn't know about the ceremony, but said that for someone who died in 9/11, it was a fine memorial. "She deserved it", Richman said.
Melora Kloeckner, an Edison employee union representative who has known the Frosts for 20 years, said that she remembers Lisa as an energetic outgoing girl. Kloeckner, who attended the dedication ceremony, said that Lisa could light up a room. "Lisa is going to be lighting Santa Ana," Kloeckner said."Everything people said about Lisa being exceptional, that was 100 percent true."
Lisa Anne was a graduate of Trabuco Hills High School and attended Boston University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with degrees from the School of Hospitality Administration and the College of Communication in 2001. Boston University currently has a student lounge in the College of Hospitality named in honor of Lisa.
She was traveling to San Francisco to start a job, when hijackers commandeered her plane, United Airlines Flight 175, and crashed it into the south tower of the World Trade Center.
