US Congressman. He graduated from the law department of Dickinson College, in 1916, was admitted to the bar in 1919 and commenced to practice law in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. During World War I, he served with the American Expeditionary Forces, (1917-19) and was commander of the American Legion, Department of Pennsylvania, (1924-25). In 1927, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventieth, Seventy-first, and Seventy-second Congresses, serving until 1933. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 53.
