Amous Carson ''Jake'' Ferrell

CHURCH HILL - Amous Carson ''Jake'' Ferrell, 71, 731 Elm Springs Road, died Wednesday (May 19, 1999) at the home of his daughter, Thelma Kay Williams, 3206 Williams Road, Big Stone Gap, Va., after an extended illness.

A lifelong resident of Hawkins County, he was a member of the Fisher Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene King Ferrell; two sons, Keith Ferrell and Calvin Ferrell; mother, Mary D. Ferrell; stepfather, Lon Ferrell; father, C.A. Ward; stepmother, Louise Ward; two sisters, Daisy Ferrell Dodge and Phyllis Ward Stidham; brother, Paul Ferrell.

Surviving are one daughter, Thelma Kay Ferrell Williams, Big Stone Gap, Va.; one son, Monte Ferrell, Church Hill; nine brothers, Rev. Carl Ferrell, Mack Ferrell, James Ferrell, all of Church Hill, Raymond Ferrell, Florida, Denny Ward and Harry Ward, both of Vico, Ky., Doug Ward, Letcher, Ky., Jim Ward, Whitesburg, Ky., Brent Ward, Georgetown, Ky.; seven sisters, Wayne Adams and Sally Ferrell, both of Church Hill, Hilda Antwara, Johnson City, Carolyn Adams, Letcher, Ky., Sue Allen, Jackson, Ky., Judy Ward, Vico, Ky., Bobbie Bevins, Georgetown, Ky.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home, Church Hill. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Carl Ferrell officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Liberty Hill Cemetery.
