News reports and obituary appeared in the Los Angeles Times June 5, 7 and 9, 1902. Mr. Anderson was riding horseback on North Fair Oaks avenue at about 6:30 o'clock [June 5], his mount being a Kentucky thoroughbred belonging to a friend, and which Mr. Anderson was exercising. An electric car coming around the curve at Chestnut street frightened the horse, which whirled about suddenly, throwing his rider against the cement curb in front of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Anderson's left temple came in such violent contact with the curb that he was rendered unconcsious. He was brought down town and Dr. Sherry, the electric railway's surgeon, was quickly summoned. The victim of the accident is 60 years old and a native of New York. From that State he enlisted in the Civil War. Later he went to Wisconsin and thence to Sheldon, Iowa, where he owned a large property on the outskirts of town. He came here eight years ago, and has lived at his handsome home on North Fair Oaks avenue, near Glorietta street. He is a Mason. His wife and daughter live here, and a son lives in Dakota. Mrs. S. F. Bangham is a cousin of Mr. Anderson.
