Sammy was adopted at a Chinese restaurant drive thru in Shawnee, KS, August, 1989. He was so traumatized by being away from his mother and siblings that he meowed loudly for days after he came home. As a young cat, he was a little vicious, often biting people who tried to pet him. His disposition changed after his sister, and life-long companion, Mimi, came to live with us in 1991. They were never far from each other for the rest of his life.

Sammy lived in many places as his parents moved around the country, including Shawnee, KS; Eden Prairie, MN; Maumee, OH; Kirkwood, MO; Charlotte, NC; and Morrisville, NC. He was the eldest of his adopted family, which included Mimi and Robbie, then later Lizzie and Midnight. He acted as a mother and mentor to each of the new kittens as they joined the family and they learned a lot from him, both his good and bad habits over the years!

In September of 2006, Sammy had a small cancerous tumor removed, but he recovered well and had nearly 3 more years added to his happy life. During the first week of May, 2009, he stopped eating and a visit to the vet indicated that his kidneys were shutting down. His parents, John & Cherie Clark, made the difficult decision to have him put to sleep. On May 15, 2009, he took his final trip to the vet where he passed away in the arms of his daddy.

We will miss him forever.
