William Henry (Will) Caplin was born in Genesee County Michigan, the son of James Capling and Laura Platt. He served honorably in the Spanish-American War, and is buried under a Veterans marker in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Clio, Michigan where he owned and operated a farm for years at Field and Jennings road. He was married to Sarah Alma Sutliff, and was the Father of many children, including Edward Therman Caplin and Bernice Irene Caplin.
