Hannah Spencer, dau. of Gerard (q.v. Jared) Spencer, b. during the period when her father and her father's brother John Spencer were residents of Lynn, Mass. Prior to her marriage to Daniel Brainerd, in context with the times Hannah's father had contracted her to marry Simon Lobdell of Hartford, Conn., but Hannah would refuse to honor the marriage contract (Hartford Court Record):

• Mar. 7, 1660-1 at the court of Hartford, Simon Lobdell, plaintiff, brought action against Jared & Hannah Spencer for her refusal to marry him as promised and against Jared for breach of promise in the amount of £150 damages. The verdict was that there was no evidence that the engagement was broken. However, they did find that Simon had sustained much damage from his relationship with them, and that Jared is to returne any goods or money received by Jared or any of his family from Simon and that Jared shall pay him £10 pounds during the following six months. On Mar. 14, 1660-1, the General Court decided further that Jared Spencer shall pay Simon Lobdel £5 beside the £10 in the form of wheat and "pease" or other estate equivalent to this.

A fuller biographical sketch of Hannah will be added at a later date. Hannah was the mother of all of Daniel Brainerd's children, who are summarized in the redirected memorial of their father.
