Love, the son of Lee Davis and Anna Elizabeth (Imboden) Love, was born in Maries county, Missouri, on March 19,1884. At the age of 16 he came to Oklahoma Territory where he lived with two cousins for sometime. As Alfred was too young to file on a homestead, he bought a claim relinquishment three miles west of the Cimarron river near old Charleston, a post office later moved to Selman, OK.
Henry Alfred married Leona Pearle Jett, of Bland, Mo., on June 6,1911, at Coldwater, KS. Alfred and Leona had been childhood friends and when he attended the Worlds Fair at St. Louis, they renewed their acquaintence. Leona later came to Oklahoma by train and Alfred met her at Coldwater, Ks., where they were married. Alfred Love, grandson of Alfred and Leona Love, later became a teacher in the Coldwater School system.
Alfred and Leona became the parents of Pearle Blanche (David) Ray, Oklahoma City; Earl Alfred (Eva) Love, Perryton, TX; Goldie Violet (Chester)Kinser, May, OK; Jewelle Edna (Everette)Lake, Buffalo,Ok; and Ruby Rose (Bob)Wilson, Laverne,OK.
The Loves made their home on a farm northeast of Selman, Ok. until 1928 when they moved to Laverne. After moving to Laverne, Alfred worked for the Oklahoma state highway department helping to build many of the first paved highways in Harper county and the surrounding counties of northwest Oklahoma. In his later years, due to failing health he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Everett Lake.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Gertie Skouby, Covington, OK. and three brothers, Wellington Lee Love, Wichita; Guy Franklin and William Ernold Love, both of Granite City, IL. He was preceeded in death by just five weeks by another sister, Mrs. Hattie Matthews of Belle, Mo. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great grandaughter.
