The oldest known grave on the Oregon Trail. 6 year old Joel was accidentally crushed by the wagon wheels, and later died on July 18. He was buried in a dresser drawer. The stone was discovered in 1961, and since the site was about to be threatened by a reservoir, the boy was reburied a quarter of a mile away and the stone was replaced, next to the grave of Ralston Baker who had been killed by the Indians on May 1, 1867. This information from the Wyoming State Historical Preservation Office site.
