Artie Mae Brown, was born 19 May 1914, the 4th of 16 children of Willis Franklin Brown and Mary Alice Lindsey. On 24 Aug 1924 she married Ernest Harvey Kennedy, son of William Andrew Kennedy and Lola Winifred Edith Ray Rich. They were blesed with the birth of 7 children: Ruby Lucille Kennedy Scott, Annie Mae Kennedy Gunter, Mary Elizabeth Kennedy Davis Gray, Shelby Jeanne Kennedy Johnson, William Ernest Kennedy, Donnie Louise Kennedy Faught, and Jerry Wayne Kennedy. After 33 years of marriage, Ernest passed away on 21 Dec 1961 at the age of 50 from cancer. She took a job as a waitress to support herself and her son, Jerry, who was still at home. She soon learned enough tricks of the trade to open her own restaurant. She ran the Artie's Rebel Truck Stop in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee for 14 years and was loved by so many. She would later remarry twice. First to Fed Lovell who died in 1980 and then to Woodrow "Woody" Scruggs who died in 1981. She later became affectionately known to all of her family as Granny K. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. The last of those was born a few hours after her death - a 5th generation girl. Besides her parents and husband, she outlived 2 granddaughters, 1 great-great-grandson, 9 brothers and sisters, 2 foster brothers, and one son-in-law.

Granny we will always love and miss you.
