Sgt. Jason J. McCluskey, 26, of McAlester, Okla., died Nov. 4 at Zarghun Shahr, Mohammad Agha district, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 27th Engineer Battalion, 20th Engineer Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C.
He is survived by his son, Landen McCluskey of Coalgate; mother, Delores Olivares and husband Ray of Lubbock, TX; father, Jimmy McCluskey of Stockton, CA; brother, Joshua Stambaugh of McAlester; step-father, Charlie Stambaugh of Montana; maternal grandmother, Wilma Kohl and husband Doyle of McAlester; paternal grandmother, Anita McCluskey of Stockton, CA; aunt, Lynn McCluskey of Stockton, CA; uncle Dusty Swing of McAlester; aunt, Sabrina Weeks and husband Gary of Poteau; cousins: Matt, Bruce, John, Aron Swing and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and a host of friends. Jason is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George Darby.
