Charles F. Babb was a wonderful, loving husband and step-father. As a child, Charles sang with the Texas Boys Choir where he was named 2nd best boy singer in the world. He also sang for the Ft. Worth Opera Association and as a teenager, Charles made records with "The Team Mates" and "The Danes" before he joined the Navy.
He served in the USN and Fleet Marine Force in Vietnam as a corpsman. He got out of military for five years and went to Texas Tech University and worked as a DJ at KLLL in Lubbock, TX. & also worked as a television director there. Charles went back into the USCG where he retired after 28 years and 7 months.
Charles married Frances Ezelle Smith whom he met while serving in Mobile, AL. They were married for 28 years on Aug. 2, 2007. She was a former nurse with the Veteran's Administration Hospital. Through Frances, Charles helped raise 4 step-children-Avi, Billie, Johnny, and Rusty along with 8 grandchildren. Charles was much loved and respected by his wife and children and by his fellow "Coasties". Charles died unexpectedly after a short illness. He is buried in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road in Mobile, Al. He is survived by his wife, his children and grandchildren, and his sisters Doris Andrews of Bayfield, CO. and Gaynelle Schulze of Dallas, TX. Charles' father Foy S. Babb died in 1999 at 95 yrs. old and his mother Winnie Jones Babb died at 96 in 2002 in Dallas, TX.
