He began his career at the acclaimed Pasadena Community Playhouse and landed his first big screen debut as the lead villain role in "Babes in Toyland" (1934). For the next five decades, he continued to captivate audiences playing both sinister and sympathetic roles. Some of his memorable film performances include "Black Legion" (1937), "Ski Patrol" (1940), "War of the Worlds" (1953), "Vera Cruz" (1954) and as the Indian Chief Scar, in "The Searchers" (1956). He also appeared on countless television shows such as "Wagon Train", "Lawman", "77 Sunset Strip", "Combat!", "Get Smart" and "Murder She Wrote". He died at 77 in Los Angeles, California.
