Mrs Celina E Burgess

March 28, 1894 ~ September 14, 1980


Cookeville- Services for Celina E. Burgess, 86, will be held in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Arkley Billingsley and

Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Interment will be in the Cookeville City Cemetery.


Mrs. Burgess passed from this life on September 14, 1980 in Cookeville General Hospital following an extended illness.

She was a native of Jackson County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late

Polk Pippin and America Jackson Pippin. She was the wife of the late

Jere M. Burgess.

Mrs. Burgess was a member of Sycamore Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Minnie Lee Flatt.


Survivors include three sons, Haskell and Edward Burgess of Tennessee, and Willard (Bootie) Burgess of Tennessee;

four daughters, Mrs. Cleo Fox,

Mrs. Nellie Chaffin, and Mrs. Edith Goodwin and Mrs. Maggie Birdwell of Tennessee.

She had 30 grandchildren,

49 great-grandchildren, and

nine great-great-grandchildren.


The body will be at Whitson Funeral Home.


Whitson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
