Son of Ira Floyd Bass and Pauline Mildred Jones. Married Shirley Joyce Barclay on 4 Jun 1960. They raised 5 daughters.
My father worked for AT&T until his retirement. He had many stories of his childhood growing up in LaMonte Missouri. He was an only child, but had many friends. He had that personality that you felt comfortable talking to him, and many strangers would just come up to him in the grocery store and just start talking with him. He stood about 6'3" and was very broad. I always felt safe with him. We always called him Daddy. He loved watching wrestling and baseball. I was his pie maker, lol. My son still enjoys watching wrestling, something he started with grandpa. I miss him and his laugh. He was a good person and a Christian.

My father started life in LaMonte, Missouri. He grew up and only child of Mildren Pauline Jones Bass and Ira Floyd Bass. He was very loved and had a magical childhood in the 1940's and 50's. He graduated in 1957 in LaMonte, Missouri. He and his mother moved to Lee's Summit, Missouri and he started working for Nelly Dawn as a dock worker around 1959. He met a man that was my mother's uncle who introduced the two. Shirley Barclay. They dated for about a year and decided to get married. They were married June 4th of 1960. My dad always talked about how hot it was that day and it held the record. My father was hired on at Western Electric in 1963, where he retired from in the late 1980's. He and my mother had 5 daughters. He loved cats and fed all the cats in the neighborhood. Anytime we went to a store, someone would talk to him even if they didn't know him. He usually had a smile on his face and had a laugh that was jolly. He had a simple faith, but was not a church goer. He loved my mother with a passion and mourned her loss until his death 3 years later. He lost a grandson in 2002. Nathan Kyle Bass 139666878 memorial number
