"Mr. Stone"
"Funeral services for Quince Harmon Stone, 97, of Lampasas were Jan. 14, 2012, at First Street Church of Christ. Burial was at Center Cemetery near Lometa.
Mr. Stone died Jan. 11 at Rollins Brook Community Hospital.
He was born Nove. 16, 1914, in Bertram, the son of Thomas Green and Maggie Ellen Harmon Stone.
Mr. Stone joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He married VerNell Coble on Sept. 17, 1942, in Lampasas.
Mr. Stone was recruited to play minor league baseball for a team in San Antonio, but his military duty prevented that.
He owned and operated Stone TV and Appliance first in San Saba, and then moved to Lometa.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lometa and Lampasas. He also was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Lometa Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of Lampasas; a son, Charles Stone and wife, Jackie, of Somerville; two daughters, Paula Landrum of Lampasas, and Beverly Sullivan and husband, Craig, of Lometa; a sister, Pearl Goble of Kingsland; grandchildren, Karyn Green and husband, Mike, Tracy Anderson and husband, Jay, Mike Stone, and Bill Sullivan and wife, Jenifer; step-grandchildren, Brad and Dawn Bowers and Britney and Coley Garza; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Zane and Abbey Green, Quint, Quade, Jacy and Jaxon Anderson, and Ashlyn and Tori Sullivan; and Step-great-grandchildren, Rylee and Allison Bowers, and Caylee and Blane Garza.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Susie Lou Bryant, Leola Evaline Hilton and Lilly Kate Covington; and two brothers, Lonzo Sylvan "Buddy" Stone and Michael Daniel "Jimmy" Stone.
Memorials may be made to Center Cemetery Association."
