My precious son was born at 26 weeks gestation and in those days that was not viable. He weighed one pound, three ounces and was perfectly formed, but not his lungs. He lived one and a half hours and I never got to see him......they put me to sleep upon his birth and he was gone when I awoke. Evidently they thought that would be easier for me.....it wasn't.

We were living in Grandville at the time and he was interred in a baby section, near a beautiful little creek, under a huge spreading shade tree. It is very beautiful, as was he. He was my first living baby after four miscarriages, greatly multiplying the tragedy. The person who comforted me the most in the hospital was the friend who came and cried with me.

Forty years later, one of my sons named his little boy after his older, never seen, never known brother. He asked my permission first.....I was so pleased that he'd asked and even more delighted that he wanted to do that. Now my new little John Delmar is the joy of my life, along with his other twelve cousins. God has been good to me. I imagine my little baby boy in the arms of my adored grandmother rocking away in Heaven. I have accepted and am content.
